Cal/OSHA's Standards Board proposed changes to the draft indoor heat illness prevention standard on November 9, 2023.
Influenced by feedback from the August 2023 15-day comment period, these modifications face a second 15-day comment period until November 28, 2023.
Proposed adjustments include exceptions for specific indoor heat exposure scenarios, removal of a provision aligning certain indoor spaces with the outdoor heat illness standard, and the elimination of a requirement for compliance solely with the indoor standard for employees transitioning between indoor and outdoor work.
The Standards Board is expected to vote on the regulation in Q1 2024, aiming for implementation by summer 2024.
